Fluid Art

These pieces are created by pouring thin layers of acrylic paint mixed with fluid medium (Flotrol, GAC 800, Liquitex pouring medium, etc) onto canvas or wood. The beauty and joy of working with fluid art comes from the lack of control one has in the process. The paint is poured onto the canvas and then the canvas is tilted or swiped with paper towels to create various effects. Once an image begins to form, I focus on this and work to accentuate or clarify what is there. Some of the pieces are also worked on more after the paint has dried to continue bringing forth whatever image is emerging. The feeling tone of these works is generally that of flowing water, ease and quiet. I have watched many Youtube videos to learn how to do this. I was particularly inspired by the work of Courtney Hoelscher and Sara Taylor.
